Suggestion Box (Sept. 20 – 26)

Last week’s Suggestion Box is coming a little late, so my bad.  But there is some decent stuff none-the-less, so don’t be upset!  K thanks.  For films we’ve got a new preview for the upcoming Harry Potter film, a few more new TV show recommendations (including Undercovers, Lone Star, The Event, and Hawaii Five-0), a new trailer for the upcoming Bond game, and a new music video from OK Go.  Enjoy.

Movies:

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 Trailer – Yay!  Another trailer.  That’s right, that is all the hype I can manage.  Besides, this movie needs no help from me.

Television:

New Series Worth Checking Out This Fall:

1 – For those of you that were disappointed when Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl could not deliver when it came to a Mr and Mrs Smith likeness on the screen, then behold the glory that is Undercovers, a show that follows a married couple who are brought back into the spy game after they called it quits for married bliss 5 years ago.  It’s hilarious, action packed, and full of some fun characters, as well as some palpable chemistry between the two lead actors Boris Kodjoe and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.  Check it out on Wednesday nights on NBC.

2 – Generally I think it is a good choice to take a stand against a man that chooses to lead two different lives, be involved with two different women, and con everyone in sight out of their money.  Yet somehow I can’t help but hope for the best for the main character in Lone Star.  Sure it helps when his father has made it the only life he has ever known and can therefore have all the blame piled on him, but maybe it’s just simply because James Wolk did amazing in this pilot.  Whatever the case, I will have to find some way to fit it into my cramped DVR recording schedule.  Check it out Mondays on FOX.

3 – WHAT THE HECK IS THE EVENT!?  Unfortunately there will not be a definite answer to this one quite yet because you can’t show your hand when the cards are still being dealt.  For now we will just have to keep track of the amassing questions, including who knows what, where plot points and characters connect, what happened during the time between point A and point B in the pilot episode, why on earth nothing good ever happens on TV when a plane is involved, etc.  Better break out the large sheet of paper now because I feel a diagram coming on.  Check it out Mondays on NBC.

4 – Castle has already got my cop drama with sexual tension covered, but it never hurts to have a second to fall back on.  Bring in Hawaii Five-0.  It may not have the awkward will they or wont they romance story line that Castle and Beckett have going on, but it still has a tension between the two leads, Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan, that adds great comedy thanks to the ease at which they butt heads.  But let’s face it, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.  Check it out on Monday nights on CBS.

Gaming:

James Bond 007: Blood Stone combat trailer – The use of the cinematic takedowns in the combat looks a little like that last Bourne game, or even a little bit like Splinter Cell: Conviction, so all I can say is that I hope it blends in well like they did with those.  No need for one with each bad guy killed, though I will be more than happy to see the punch to the throat from time to time.

Internets:

OK Go “White Knuckles” music video – I thought the music video they did with the treadmills would be challenging enough, but that just started the domino effect of awesomeness.  This time they up the difficulty by throwing dogs into the mix.

  1. Ugh… And this is why I hate TV. I only got to watch the pilot so far but I really liked it, but I guess watching the second episode isn’t worth it anymore… Boo.
