Everybody Wants Some!! is a solid entry from Richard Linklater that is propped up by a couple of compelling performances, but it rarely finds the heights we know the director can hit.

Midnight Special is another great film from Jeff Nichols, who continues to prove he is one of the best young directors to watch; especially when he’s in the sci-fi genre.

Zootopia is another very good entry from Disney Animation Studios, with gorgeous visuals and some intriguing themes for a “kids” movie.

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is trying to do way too much, it rarely stops to breath, but if you are up for going with that crazy flow you will probably enjoy most of the experience.

Hello, My Name Is Doris

Sally Field is excellent in Hello, My Name Is Doris, which does a pretty fine job of telling a story about love, mental health, grief, and never giving up on trying something new.

Eddie the Eagle

Eddie the Eagle makes for a really good sports film, with a sport you would have never expected to be so captivating, Ski Jumping.

Deadpool

Deadpool falls short because it brings nothing fresh to the table and has a sense of humor that I can’t imagine is all that appealing to most audiences.

Triple 9

Triple 9 is another star studded effort from John Hillcoat and while the set pieces work the shabbiness of the film is barely holding it together.

10 Cloverfield Lane

Months ago when the film came out of nowhere, 10 Cloverfield Lane quickly jumped the line to the top of my most anticipated movies list. Thank goodness it doesn’t disappoint. Granted I also knew what to expect.
