Suggestion Box (Aug 23 – 29)

In this week’s Suggestion Box we’ve got the movie trailer for 127 hours, a trailer for the new AMC TV show The Walking Dead, and a whole heap of video game videos from Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, Brink, Halo: Reach, James Bond 007: Blood Stone, and Portal 2.

Movies:

127 Hours Trailer – Remember back in 2003 when news broke that a man was forced to cut off his own arm after becoming stuck between a rock and a hard place?  Well, now it’s time for Aron Ralston’s story to become even more famous with a movie.  Let’s just hope that James Franco doesn’t have to get too disgustingly graphic with that act.  Ugh… Just thinking about it is making my goldfish swim back up my throat… Stupid delicious cheddar cheese crackers…

TV:

The Walking Dead Trailer – I don’t know why but I was just sitting there taking in the trailer and then the end screen comes up when it says that this show will be premiering on Halloween and it was just like I discovered money that I had forgotten to take out of a birthday card.  Yes, I was that excited.  Don’t ask me why… And why am I excited about this premiere date?  Well, when else would be a great time to start a show about zombies?  ZOMBIES!!!

Gaming:

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood Gamescom Demo – (360/PS3/PC) – I know it’s seven minutes long, but it is definitely worth the time to watch this video.  It provides a glimpse at recruiting new members to your assassination team (as well as sending those recruits on missions of their own elsewhere in Italy and using the experience they earn on said missions to upgrade them), as well as how Ezio’s actions will affect the city of Rome as you liberate different areas of their oppressive rule.  Oh yeah, and we get to see some new assassination moves, whether it is to order some of your fellow assassins to dispatch of some guards or by dropping down yourself on an unsuspecting guard trotting past on his horse.  Though this is an offshoot of the story of Assassin’s Creed 2 it is seriously turning out to be possibly the best game in the franchise to date.

Brink Developer Diary #3 – (360/PS3/PC) – In this installation the developers talk about how they have worked towards bridging the gap between solo campaigns and multiplayer gameplay, and their stance on how they have worked to change the usual conventions that go hand-in-hand with these.  They also briefly discuss character development and XP, how a player can choose to go about missions and how their way of playing affects their team, etc.

Halo: Reach Deliver Hope Trailer – (Xbox 360) – Not only is this live action trailer a great bit of marketing for the game coming out this September, but it is yet another reason as to why they seriously need to get on a Halo movie.  The music alone is enough to bring you to tears.

James Bond 007: Blood Stone Trailer – (360/PS3/PC/Wii/DS) – Check out this trailer for the new Bond game. No, not the GoldenEye remake, but a completely original Bond story without any ties to a film, mixing action and racing elements.

Portal 2 Co-op Trailer – (360/PS3/PC/Mac) – Easily one of the better Xbox Live Arcade games out there (as well as on the PC and Mac), Portal provides an interesting 3D puzzle game experience that can only be put to shame by the sequel succeeding it.  Not only is it going to be a full blown game, but it will also come packed with a co-op experience.

Portal 2 Repulsion Gel Gameplay Trailer – (360/PS3/PC/Mac) – That’s right, another Portal video.  This time we get to see more footage of how the repulsion gel (think a liquid that acts like a trampoline) will fit into the gameplay.  Also, there is a pretty awesome way to dispatch those creepy little turrets.
