The Glee club returns after winning Sectionals only to find themselves treated as badly as before. Rachel is now dating Finn, Sue is coaching once again, and Mr. Schu starts seeing Emma.

Let me comment on the plot first, and then the musical numbers. I love Glee for everything it is, but I absolutely hate their character development, or the lack of. Finn and Rachel have already fallen for each other early on in the season, but then Finn goes back to Quinn. All of a sudden, he’s dating Rachel again, for literally a minute this time, only to find she’s annoying and dates the cheerleaders, Brittany and Santana instead. Rachel, hurt, finds the male lead from their top competitor, Vocal Adrenaline, and starts seeing him. The rest of the Glee club, who seemed to be friends with Rachel before, threatens to kick her out of she doesn’t leave him. She goes and break up with him. Finn ditches the cheerleaders to go back to Rachel, only to be rejected by her. You should be very confused at this point, but this is just the students. Mr. Schu starts seeing Emma while still being married, gets weirded out that she’s still “pure”, makes out with the Vocal Adrenaline coach, and then come to the realization he needs to spend time figuring himself out.

Plotwise, I give this episode a D-.

Now for the musical numbers.

Hello, I Love you – I’ve never heard the original version by The Doors before but I thought Finn sang this song pretty well. However, it didn’t make any sense to me. He was suppose to try to figure himself out in this song. Maybe he means himself when he sings “I Love You”.

Gives You Hell – Let’s face it, you can’t go wrong when Rachel is the lead singer. Very fun song, good choreography, and nice to hear everyone as the backing vocalists.

Hello – I literally grew up listening to Lionel Richie so I was kind of iffy knowing they’re going to do this song. I don’t really know where this Jesse guy came from, but I thought he performed a great duet with Rachel.

Highway to Hell – Jesse sang this song along with the Vocal Adrenaline, so it’s just whatever. Clearly nothing can beat the original.

Hello Goodbye – Great rendition of this song. I thought they all looked really good in matching outfits. This song was very fitting to everything that happened in this episode.

Musical numberwise, I give this episode a B.
